As per National Building Code, openings that allow passages of all building services like cables, electrical wirings etc. shall be protected. The space between the electrical cables and the wall or slabs shall be filled in by a firestop material having a fire resistance rating of 120 minutes or more.

Needs of such a passive fire protection measure prevents the spread of fire from one floor to another. As per guidelines for fire NOC specified by major municipal corporations and fire department, all electrical shafts must be sealed at each floor level with non-combustible materials such as vermiculite concrete.

UltraTech FireSafe is specially designed vermiculite firestop concrete which helps in passive fire protection with its carefully chosen mix constituents, which can withstand high elevated temperatures by use of special aggregate and other ingredients. These help in controlling the fire spread and its effect by providing sufficient fire resistance to prevent loss of structural stability within the prescribed time period of 2 hours or more.
